BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Stormwater Utility owns and operates a 2014 VAC-CON Stormwater high water pressure jet and vacuum system, mounted to a 2021 Mack Cab & Chassis, for maintenance of the City's 65 miles of stormwater pipe and related infrastructure.
In 2022 the 12-yard debris tank was showing signs of rust deterioration on the inner walls of the tank. A steel liner was installed as a temporary repair. The tank is a VAC-CON specific custom factory tank that is designed and built by VAC-CON of Green Cove Springs, Florida. The temporary repair has now failed and a replacement tank is required. Southern Sewer Equipment Sales is the Sole Dealer for Sales, Parts & Service for the VAC-CON Factory in the State of Florida. City Council previously approved a resolution to waive competitive bidding related to this repair on June 6, 2023 under agenda item 23-314. The estimate for the repairs of the VAC-Con truck it $73,110.
The other repair requested under this item will be to a 2014 Tymco Street Sweeper. The vehicle's pick-up assembly has rusted and needs replacement. The estimated cost of this repair is $16,834.
Funding for these repairs along with an additional $20,056 in case the actual costs of these repairs is greater than the initial estimates is being requested.
