BACKGROUND:
Staff is requesting approval to apply for the Florida Defense Infrastructure Grant offered by the Florida Department of Commerce for the Pineda Causeway Phase 2 Water Main Design, which will fund the design and permitting of a sixteen-inch water extension from the west end of Pineda Causeway near edge of Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB) to S.R. A1A and then north on S.R.A1A to the northern property limit of PSFB. This grant, if awarded would represent approximately an 11% local match that would be combined with a federal military resiliency grant for $1.2M to cover the entire project design cost of $1,350,000. Staff has prepared the grant application is requesting approval for the City Manager to sign any documents related to the grant application, if necessary.
If awarded this grant, staff will prepare an agenda item to accept the grant and a BAF for the grant-funded project and would be contingent on the award of the federal grant of $1.2 M.
