body

BACKGROUND:

Pursuant to Section 163.01, Florida Statutes, Cocoa and Rockledge agree that the safety of the students living in their cities is a matter of great public concern. The two cities have entered into an Interlocal Agreement Between the Cities of Cocoa and Rockledge Crossing Guard Services (At Intersection of Fiske Boulevard and Rosa L. Jones Street), dated June 21, 2023, and recorded at Official Record Book 9831, Page 804 of Brevard County, Florida (“Agreement”).

Due to inflationary costs, the City’s share of the cost of providing the crossing guard services will be increasing to an amount not to exceed $7,000 for the upcoming 2024/25 school year.  As such, an amendment to the Agreement is being proposed for adoption to reflect Cocoa’s increased cost sharing amount.  Additionally, the proposed First Amendment also provides that Cocoa and Rockledge may adjust this cost sharing amount in the future without further amending the Agreement provided said adjustment is approved in writing by each party’s respective City Manager.
