BACKGROUND:

 

Staff is requesting approval to apply for the Installation Resiliency Grant offered by the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation for the Pineda Causeway Phase 2 Water Main Design.  The project will fund the design and permitting of a sixteen-inch water extension from the west end of Pineda Causeway near edge of Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB) to S.R. A1A and then north on S.R.A1A to the northern property limit of PSFB.  This grant, if awarded would represent approximately 90% of the total project cost and the other 10% would come from a Florida State Commerce Military Resiliency Grant for $135,000 to cover the entire project design cost of $1,335,000.  Staff has prepared the grant application and is requesting approval for the City Manager to sign any documents related to the grant application, if necessary.

 

On May 14th, City Council approved and authorized the City Manager to submit the federal grant application with the understanding the grant agenda would come to City Council on May 28th meeting.

 

If awarded, staff will prepare a future agenda item to accept the grant and a BAF to adjust budgets and other expense and revenue accounts.
