body

BACKGROUND:

On February 22, 2022 Council approved the award of this project to E&D Contracting Services in the amount of $1,508,001. Council also authorized the City Manager to Approve and Execute Change Orders in an Amount Not to Exceed $150,801 (10% of the Contract Amount).

On September 13, 2022 Council approved an amended budget and Change Order #1 for replacement of the round aeration basin floor. While the contractor was working on the repairs of the walls of the basin and preparing for coating there were severe cracks and hollow areas found in the floor as well as a lack of proper thickness of the floor in several areas that were unknown previously.

On May 23, 2023 Council approved and amended budget and Change Order #5 for additional scope of work to include additional concrete repair and mortar application for the six square Bardenpho tanks. This additional scope was due to damages to the existing concrete walls of which the extent was unknown at the time of award of the work. The additional scope included additional concrete preparation and additional concrete repair mortar work and coating modifications.

This current Change Order #6 request is for additional scope of work to include tank cleaning due to changed site conditions and for the installation of floor and wall joint material that was not included in the original scope of work for the project but determined to be necessary. This work was completed in December 2023.

The contractor has submitted a quote for the additional scope. The cost for this additional work is $129,222 which is greater than the current available contingency amount.

Staff is requesting approval of the budget amendment and the approval of Change Order #6 in the amount of $129,222 for this work.
