body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Cocoa has participated with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for more than 30 years to collect and report hydrologic data (water quality sampling, ground water, and surface water level monitoring) of water resources in Cocoa’s wellfield. The reporting activities are a condition of the Consumptive Use Permit issued to the City of Cocoa by the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD).

The City of Cocoa manages the program, and its employees perform some of the lab work. The data collection, monitoring equipment, and database compilation portion of the program is provided by USGS.

The FY2025 program agreement with the USGS totals $143,593.00 of which Cocoa’s share is $131,713.00. The FY2025 budget for this program is $131,713.00 and sufficient for payment. Cocoa’s cost share decreased by $1,534.00 from the FY2024 program.
