BACKGROUND:
At the October 24, 2023 City Council Meeting, a $1,000 Donation Application was approved for Brevard Schools Foundation for their new Jump Start Scholarship program. The scholarship will be matched nearly 3:1 and awarded to a low-income high-school senior.
The recipient will be presented in front of Council.
As part of the sponsorship designation, Council named the scholarship the “City of Cocoa Scholarship” and the following conditions put forth by staff as follows:
• Limit eligibility to a student attending Cocoa High School and also residing within the City limits.
• Require that the student submit their grades at the end of the semester.
• Require proof of payment from Florida Pre-paid.
