body

BACKGROUND:

On Monday, June 17, 2024, RVI, the Planning Consultant for the City of Cocoa, held a Visioning Workshop for the area known as the “Four Corners” - the intersection of U.S. 1 and SR 520, and the surrounding area along the western side of SR 520, westward to Fiske Blvd.

This area is in need of redevelopment, and this public meeting was designed to stimulate conversations about how to best utilize this area.  This area has multiple constituencies to be accountable to, including the Cocoa CRA (whose boundary, on the border, it is located), the Diamond Square CRA (whose border is just on the other side of the intersection and then which continues westward along SR 520 towards Fiske Blvd.), and the residents and businesses of Cocoa, along with the City itself.

RVI was tasked with synthesizing this information and making sense of a path forward to help guide the Planning Division with how to proceed with any necessary zoning changes to help accomplish the goal of revitalizing the area.
