Consider the reappointment of Ron Chabot through November 2027; Consider the appointment of Katherine Stewart and Joseph Bachand to fill one Regular member vacancy and one Alternate member vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Board.

BACKGROUND:
Ron Chabot, who is currently fulfilling the remaining term of Marilyn Green, is set to expire on November 30, 2024. Mr. Chabot has served on the Planning and Zoning Board since January of 2023. He has indicated an interest in being reappointed for a full three-year term.
Additionally, the Planning and Zoning Board also has one Regular member vacancy and one Alternate member vacancy.
Katherine Stewart is currently the 2nd Alternate member on the Planning and Zoning Board and has served since January, 2023. Ms. Stewart spoke with the Clerk's office and expressed an interest in being appointed as a Regular member. During her time serving as an Alternate member, she held a high attendance record. Should Council decide to appoint Ms. Stewart to a Regular member seat, the position of 2nd Alternate would then become available.
Mr. Bachand is a prior member of the US1 Redevelopment Agency and a member of the Florida bar with knowledge of the City's code. He owns and operates an office of law within the City limits of Cocoa.
It should be clarified that the Regular member vacancy holds a three-year term through November 2027 and the Alternate member vacancy has no expiration.
If approved, it is at the discretion of the City Council to determine which position they would like each applicant to fulfill.
Each applicant currently meets the eligibility requirements for serving on a City board.
