body
BACKGROUND:
The Wewahootee Pump Station High Service Pump/MCC building contains four raw water pumps, an electrical room, and an employee kitchen and bathroom.
An inspection of this original roof revealed that it has reached the end of its useful life and requires replacement, thus protecting the sensitive water treatment controls located inside.
Staff requests City Council approval of the roof replacement cost in the amount of $106,833.97. City staff is also requesting that City Council approve an additional $10,683.40 (10%) as a contingency for the project. The total amount of the project including the 10% contingency is $117,517.37. The additional amount is requested to cover any additional time and materials that may be required in excess of the original proposal. Although City staff does not anticipate any change orders, there is a possibility that unforeseen events would require changes to the project scope. If a change order is required, the additional amount will allow the project to continue moving forward.
The additional $10,683.40 will not be added to the initial purchase order and each change order will be reviewed by staff before it is sent to the City Manager for approval.
