BACKGROUND:
Brevard Prevention Coalition submitted a donation application request for their program “Sixth Man Tournament”. The application is complete and all of the required information is attached.
Brevard Prevention Coalition plans to serve 250-500 participants at this event, with the majority of participants being from the City of Cocoa. These funds will help provide an opportunity to address two community challenges: the need for positive interactions between law enforcement and youth, and the prevention of youth substance misuse. Brevard Prevention Coalition and Hey!Blue are partnering on this project to foster trust, community spirit and healthy choices among young people.
Each fiscal year, each City Council member is allotted $1,000 and can choose whether or not to donate any of their portions to applicants. It is suggested that if each member wishes to contribute, each would be using $200 of their allotment, leaving each member with a balance of $800.
There have been no other donation requests approved this Fiscal year.
