BACKGROUND:

The Advanced Waste Treatment (AWT) requirements per Florida Statute 403.806 mandate stricter limitations on wastewater effluent by July 1, 2025. The result of the statute effectively requires upgrades to the Internal Recycle Pump (IRP) system at the Jerry Sellers Water Reclamation Facility (Sellers WRF) to be in place and fully operational several months prior to the AWT deadline, allowing time for testing and tuning of the system during wet and dry seasons prior to the AWT deadline, in order to meet compliance requirements. The work generally consists of the replacement of pumps, motors, piping, pad mounts, and related appurtenances.

In addition to the AWT requirements, the City has been ordered to perform rehabilitation and replacement of components within the Influent Pump Station (IPS), Transfer Pump Station (TPS), and headworks areas of the Sellers WRF pursuant to a Consent Order with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). The work generally consists of the replacement of pumps, piping, gates, and related appurtenances, as well as the refurbishment of the concrete basins of the IPS and headworks areas.

Due to time and space constraints, the IRP Replacement Project will be consolidated with, and performed in conjunction with, the IPS and TPS Rehabilitation Project.
