BACKGROUND:

The Florida League of Mayors has teamed up with Business Watch to offer a City Catalyst Grant each year with awards up to $1,500.00 (with a matching portion) to support projects or intiatives that help build community and/or enhance the lives of city residents. This year the program must address a need as a result of COVID-19.

Based on the recent conclusion of our first ever Citizens Academy and the feedback received for that program, it was determined that an Emergency Management component should be added to better inform our residents about how the city prepares and responds to emergency situations. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has expanded that need more than ever to help better inform our residents.

The addition of this session to our program will also allow us the opportunity to help residents be better prepared for a disaster. We will work with residents to create preparedness kits that they can then use to help spread the word to their neighbors and friends.

Applications were due and sent in on June 19, 2020. The completed application and program description was included in this packet. Applications will be judged by a panel consisting of former Florida League of Mayor's presidents who are no longer in office and members of Business Watch. Winners will be announced at the FL League of Cities Annual Conference in August, and awards will be available immediately.
