BACKGROUND:

 

At the June 10, 2020 Cocoa City Council meeting, staff sought Council direction on moving forward with public special events at City facilities. Council requested that each organizer be responsible for preparing a safety plan related to public safety and mitigation against the spread of the coronavirus at the event.

 

The following event has submitted a safety plan for their special event to be held in Cocoa Village for approval by Council:

 

                     November 6, 2020: Village Idiot Pub Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk

 

The organizer’s safety plan for this event is attached to this agenda item.

 

 

STRATEGIC PLAN CONNECTION: 

 

Marketing of City facilities for recreational/event purposes to promote and enhance the image of Cocoa.

 

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

 

No budgetary impact other than public special events were included in revenue projections for Leisure Services.

 

PREVIOUS ACTION:

 

Council requested that all requests for public special events requesting to host their event at City facilities present to Council their plan to keep the public safe and continue to slow the spread of COVID-19.
