BACKGROUND:

 

At the July 22 regular City Council meeting, City Council provided direction for staff to return a resolution naming the City’s 250’ T-Dock the “Capt. Ed. Lanni T-Dock” due to his significant contributions to the City of Cocoa and service in the Merchant Marine.  Captain Edward A. Lanni is a Cocoa Citizen who has contributed numerous volunteer hours to the City of Cocoa and is a retired Master Mariner of the United States Merchant Marine.  In accordance with the City of Cocoa Code of Ordinances Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2-9 a resolution approved by City Council is necessary to officially name the amenity.

Board Member Cocoa Community Redevelopment Agency- November 1998 to Present

Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization Citizen Advisory Committee- Until 2018

Member of the Charter Review Committee- 2010

Member of the Cemetery Committee- 2012

Civic contributions through other private organizations within the City of Cocoa

   

Upon approval city staff will place a marker at the amenity to designate the dock for future reference.
