BACKGROUND:

 

The Water Field Operations Division (WFO) is requesting the approval to purchase a new Vermeer D8x12 S3 Navigator boring machine and associated equipment under the approved CIP project, CP-UT-20-VB (Project No. WS21BR).

 

Brevard County permits require that any service line installed must include casing (sleeves) on the service line. Purchasing the Vermeer S3 Navigator boring machine will assist the City in meeting this requirement and will provide WFO with an improved method of installing service lines by decreasing the time spent to install service lines and increasing operational efficiency.

 

Staff recommends approval to participate in the Sourcewell 012418-VRM cooperative purchase agreement to purchase a Vermeer D8x12 S3 Navigator boring machine and associated equipment.
