BACKGROUND:
To finalize the Cocoa CRA Fiscal Year 2022 Budget, a list of priorities is being presented based on the current Cocoa Community Redevelopment Agency Plan Update of 2018. Since 2018, the Cocoa CRA has been active in completing many of the redevelopment projects listed in the Plan Update. Pursuant to F.S. 163, Part II (the Community Redevelopment Act of 1969), a Redevelopment Plan is necessary to undertake and carry out community redevelopment activities within the CRA.
The Redevelopment Plan identified project activities, costs, and a timeline for completion for the next ten (10) years. To date, the following projects have been, or are nearing completion in 2021:
* Crosswalks Project in Cocoa Village
* Gateway Entry Project
* FIND Grant for Dredging and Boat Ramps - Phase I
* Cocoa Village Solar Lighting
* Structural Analysis on the existing Pier
* Cocoa Village Solar Lights
The projects listed above were funded in part with City, Local, State and Federal funds. These projects are the catalyst to continuing the economic growth of the Cocoa CRA and Cocoa Village.
A list of projects approved at the June 7, 2021 Cocoa CRA meeting for the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget are listed below:
* Use Fund Balance to pay off loans B & C in the amount of $1,924,348
* On Street Parking $700,000
* Rosa L. Jones Traffic Circle PD&E - $50,000
* Dinghy Docks Design - $25,000
* FIND Grant for Dredging and Boat Ramp area - Phase II - $600,000
* Pedestrian and Vehicular Wayfinding - $40,000
* Remaining Funds in Contingency - $497,871
Staff is requesting approval of the Proposed Fiscal Year 2022 Budget for the Cocoa CRA.
