BACKGROUND:
The City of Cocoa has participated with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for more than 30 years to collect and report hydrologic data (water quality sampling, ground water, and surface water level monitoring) of water resources in Cocoa's wellfield. The reporting activities are a condition of the Consumptive Use Permit issued to the City of Cocoa by the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD).
The City of Cocoa manages the program and its employees perform some of the lab work. The data collection, monitoring equipment, and database compilation portion of the program is provided by USGS.
The FY2022 agreement totals $133,706 of which Cocoa's share is $121,826. The FY2022 budget for this program is $121,826 and sufficient for payment. Cocoa's share remained the same as in the FY2021 program.
Staff recommends approval of the FY2022 Joint Funding Agreement with USGS pending approval of the FY2022 budget.
