body
BACKGROUND:

Brevard County is currently in the process of designing the replacement of the Sykes Creek Bridge Crossing on Sea Ray Drive. This bridge was damaged during Hurricane Mathew and it has been determined by the County that it would need to be replaced. The City of Cocoa has a 36" water main aerial crossing that is attached to the existing bridge which will have to be relocated for the bridge to be replaced. The City of Cocoa is proposing directional drilling the crossing which will eliminate the conflict with the bridge. In addition, the directional drill under Sykes Creek will increase the reliability of a critical transmission pipe and reduce vulnerability during future storm events.

The scope of work of this task order includes the design, environmental and land surveying, and permitting services for the relocation of approximately 1,400 linear feet of 36" water main.

This work was identified in the FY2021 Capital Improvements Plan and is currently budgeted and the budget will roll into the new year.

Staff recommends approval of this project.
