BACKGROUND:

The Planning & Zoning Board currently has one Regular member vacancy. The vacancy was created by former member Jeri Blanco, who no longer meets the qualifications for serving on a City board. Ms. Blanco officially resigned in May from the Board and there was an application period thereafter. This appointee will fulfill the term of Ms. Blanco and it would run through November, 2022. The City Clerk's office received the following applications and those who wish to be considered for the position are listed below:

* Thomas Barton expressed in his application that he thrives to help people in the community. He has held several elected offices, was a school board director, served on a municipal township council and would like the opportunity to get involved on the Planning & Zoning Board. Mr. Barton does not live within the City limits but would be eligible to fill the seat per Article III, Sec. 2-58(d) of the City's Code which states that the maximum number of persons not satisfying both the residency and registered voter requirements shall be limited to a number equal to thirty-three percent (33%) of the total number of voting board or committee members allowed to be appointed or elected to that particular board or committee.

* Nicholas Boardman is the owner of the Bonsai Motel in Rockledge but has expressed an interest in serving on the City's Planning & Zoning Board. He is a current, active community member where he resides and is currently serves on several homeowners' assoc...
