BACKGROUND:

The School Board of Brevard County and Cocoa Police Department desire the renewal of the multi-year agreement to provide a School Resource Officers for the 2020-2021 and for the 2021-2022 school years. During the 2018 legislative session the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Safety Act was signed into law and requires a number of school safety initiative. Of the more pressing initiatives is for assignment of one or more safe-school officers at each school facility.

Staff is requesting Council's approval of this multi-year contract for the FY20/FY21 and the FY21/FY22 budget years, pending final approval of the City of Cocoa's budget and the Brevard County School Board budget. Brevard County School Board is requesting that there be two (2) signed originals. Once two (2) fully executed contracts are complete, one (1) original will be sent to our agency.
